Knee rehab on the reformer
There is hope for KNEE PAIN.
We've been getting some great results for people with knee pain on the PILATES REFORMERS.
With a mix of stretching and strengthening these machines are perfectly suited.
We cater to a variety of knee conditions from arthritis to pre and post surgery.
How does it work:
An Exercise Physiologist will take you through a full assessment to identify WHY you're getting the pain and WHAT you can do about it.
From there we'll get you into weekly classes on the reformer.
You'll work through your own program of exercises tailored to you.

Rehab exercises following knee surgery
Here's how we work with people following knee replacements and ligament repairs/reconstruction.
If you're not doing rehab after surgery your not getting the full benefit of that surgery.
Following an assessment we develop a specific program tailored to your needs. We'll work with you and get you back to doing the things you love, whether it's running, sport or just getting out in the garden.

RETURN TO SPORT FOLLOWING KNEE INJURY
Don't just go straight back to sport following a KNEE injury. Take your time to progress through the stages of recovery.
Here's our 10 steps to return to sport following knee injury:
1) Knee flexion on reformer (see video above)
2) Addition of inner thigh, glutes and hamstring strengthening
3) Jump boards on reformer for early dynamic loading
4) Adding rotating to all of above
5) Loaded flexion on land (Squats, lunges, step ups etc.)
6) Single leg flexion on land (Single leg squats, split squats etc.)
7) Dynamic flexion (hopping)
8) Running - start straight line, progress to acceleration/deceleration, change of direction and backwards
9) Add rotation and external stimulus to dynamic drills
10) Return to training and return to sport
Pain management strategies should be used throughout as needed (release work, strapping, pain killers, icing, rest, load management).
This approach adds structure to your return to sports to minimize the risk of re-injury

Jumping for knee injuries
Are you returning from a KNEE INJURY or KNEE SURGERY?
In this video, Exercise Physiologist Chris explains why jumping on the reformers are a great way to start to re-load through your knees.
This will speed up your recovery and get you back to running and jumping quicker and with more confidence.
